About Pilates at Core Connect Pilates

Pilates is a body conditioning method that trains strength from the inside out. It targets the deep postural muscles, improves alignment, and helps rebalance the body so you move with more control and less strain. Over time, Pilates can improve the way your body looks and feels, while also supporting posture, mobility, and long-term joint health.

At Core Connect, Pilates is taught as a practical, progressive system you can build into daily life, helping you breathe, align and strengthen with consistency.

Why Equipment-Based Pilates (Reformer)

Equipment-based Pilates uses specialist apparatus and spring resistance to both assist and challenge your movement. That means exercises can be modified for beginners, progressed for experienced clients, and tailored for specific needs.

Reformer and equipment work can help you:

  • build core stability to support the spine

  • improve strength, stamina, flexibility and balance in one structured session

  • lengthen tight muscles with spring support (particularly useful around hips and hamstrings)

  • retrain movement patterns to become safer and more efficient for sport, posture, injury recovery and everyday life

Core Connect keeps classes small (maximum 7) so you receive quality instruction and individual attention.

Back Care and Rehabilitation Pilates

Pilates for Back Care

Lower back pain is common, and the studio positions Pilates as a supportive approach for improving core stability and spinal support. Sessions focus on stabilising the spine, improving control, and reducing tension from tight muscle groups that can pull on the lower back.

Rehabilitation and Recovery Support

The studio also highlights working with clients around hip and knee replacements, including building strength around the joint, addressing movement patterns, and supporting pain relief before or after surgery where appropriate.

Yes. Spring resistance can assist movement, making it easier to learn technique safely, while still giving you a challenging workout as you progress.

"I go to the Pilates Equipment class in which the Reformer bed is central but it is supported by a diverse group of other bits of kit .My original aim was to improve Golf, through ability to rotate, better balance and core strength. Six month later ,I am doing this and recapturing muscle memory and general strength . It does make Gym work seem quite boring.  Pilates fundamentally should become like ‘cleaning your teeth ‘as part of understanding our bodies make up, muscular, skeletal etc Use it or lose it!" - A.J.S
